After joining G. They became a couple and she joined the Soul Krushers. Amazon is just the best store anyone can find today and tomorrow. The immediately preceding album, Hell Awaits, is quite good too, but not quite up to this level. I felt they lost their way a bit after this; not a lot, just a bit.
Overall these most recent 4 albums seem to lack the staying power of the earlier ones with the possible exception of Christ Illusion, which is pretty outstanding. I can't put my finger on why I feel this way because there are some excellent individual songs on these albums. Maybe I'm just getting older and more nostalgic On a side note, I find it interesting that a lot of the Amazon reviewers complain about the production of this album and then in the same breath praise the low-budget poorly produced 80's albums like Hell Awaits, Reign in Blood, and Show No Mercy.
Doesn't make any sense. Finally, from reading the reviews here, it's obvious that Slayer fans are a diverse lot that possess many varying views on what they like about the band's direction and what they don't like about it. To me, World Painted Blood is pretty much a standard 21st century Slayer release. Not bad, but then again, not outstanding either I want to give it 4, and maybe it will grow on me and obtain that 4th star one day, but it's not quite there yet Slayer was one of my favorite bands growing up.
With the exception of a few odd moments on albums, you can pretty much always know what you're going to get with them. This album is definitely Slayer. It has all of the traditional Slayer elements of speed, power, anger and aggression. Some of the songs grabbed me right away, then the others had to take a week to sink in.
I would definitely say that this is their best album in a long time. However, the one area that it seriously suffers is in the production. It just isn't as crisp and clear as some of their previous albums and doesn't seem to have near as much punch in a good stereo system.
I guess they should've just stayed far away from anyone who has produced the turd that Metallica has become. The great thing about 21st century Slayer is that they sound like 20th century Slayer. In a music world where everyone wants to sound like somebody else and there are a lot of bands trying to sound like Slayer during this current thrash revival it is nice to hear a band that cares only about being themselves. If you are wanting Slayer to evolve, this album is not for you.
If you love their old albums then World Painted Blood will not disappoint. I like it more than 'Seasons in the Abyss'.
I wasn't expecting them to put this type of effort together this late in their career, but this is some great thrash! The poor women and children were murdered viciously and their dignity taken by a prolonged assault, sustaining injuries far worse than an animal attack would inflict.
It wasn't a desire or craving, but a need - at least in his mind. You might argue C was weak, giving in to his worst emotions and planning each death with care and caution. He had some horrific experiences in his childhood, along with many humiliating experiences throughout life, but there are people who experience such things.
Perhaps it was a combination of factors. The only thing I can think of that might give him some degree of clemency is the lacerations that were found in his brain. Some fault lies with the incompetent system that let him run wild, but my thoughts always return to the victims, no matter the morbid curiosity with the man.
So many children robbed of their lives, so many unfortunate women down on their luck exploited to a cruel and horrific end.
